I've bought two bikes in the last 25 years. I paid $1,200 for both:

- A 1993 Mongoose IBOC Comp... rigid steel with Deore LX components. I still ride it as my wet weather commuter, it's probably given me the best ROI of anything I've spent money on in my entire life.

- A 2015 Norco Fluid 7.3... aluminum with low spec components and the most entry level RockShox fork and shock. A John Henry Days clearance special.

According to an online inflation calculator I found, $1,200 in 93 was roughly $1,700 in 2016 when I bought the Norco. I put new tires, pedals, and a Hilo dropper on the Norco, bringing it up to maybe $1,600, so I'm still $100 ahead for a far, far, better bike. However, I've spent more on maintenance of the Norco in the last two years than in 25 years for the Mongoose!

As for the Shore being hard to learn on... I started riding/pushing across Bridle Path, moved up to the easier XC trails, then the blue descents, and now I can ride most blacks.  Lost some blood and picked up a few scars along the way, but it's all been good!

The Canucks are scoring goals.  Don't know why they couldn't do that in the past.  Better shooting talent?

The bottom six are scoring, which hasn't really happened in the recent past.  To their credit, Rutherford and Allvin have made some very good upgrades to the bottom of the roster, and without taking up a lot of cap space.

Those trucks could be related to a couple of infrastructure projects.   They're putting in a new gondola and have been working on sewage and power system upgrades.

They know. I talked to the Seymour PFO and he wasn't happy that riders were ignoring the sign at the first switchback (and the one on the side of the road that says "riding on designated trails only"). If it wasn't for lack of resources on their part something would have been done already. I hope they do get the resources.

Whenever I'm running down upper Old Buck and meet riders heading up it, I'll point out that they've passed at least two "No Biking" signs to get where they are. The usual response is some entitled variation of "It's all good, bro!"

If it's mid-week, fine, but on the weekend in full view of numerous other trail users, it's a bad look for the entire biking community.

I think scooter riders have know this for decades... the idea that we need several tons of vehicle to move a person or two is off. A bit of weather protection and cargo capacity, and it's very practical but we have these locked in categories for vehicles that frustrate these efforts. Add a bit too much and it's not a bicycle anymore, then another piece or two and suddenly it's a car and needs to meet regs. Electrameccanica tried with a 3-wheel compact vehicle, but it was expensive, not a heck of a lot smaller and ultimately failed.

A former co-worker tried for most of a decade to productize an enclosed 3-wheel pedal-electric vehicle here in Vancouver, but they finally went bankrupt this year.

Last Saturday at Parkgate, I saw an unusual rack holding two rows of two bikes. The front wheels were hanging in baskets, wheels towards the middle. It drove off before I was able to get close enough to see if there was a brand name on it. My kindergarten sketch:

I understand some may believe the features I have added are “secret”. My philosophy surrounding secret features is to only add those that are frequently visited and/or widely known and referenced (i.e., they’re no longer secret). If it’s a borderline case, I will add the feature but leave out specific tags that ensure the feature does not show up on carto and on data consumers (websites/apps) but is still viewable by rescue services. If you would like for me to explain why I believe a specific feature is no longer secret then please do not hesitate to reach out. I also welcome feedback regarding my philosophy and what measures should be used to determine if a feature is no longer secret.

Warning though, the access onto Powerlines from Prospect Road is brutal (though short). It's a little easier from Rondoval Crescent but still an overgrown push up for about 100m...

The trail that goes up from the gate at the end of Prospect to the powerline is crappy just to hike up, even without pushing a bike.

Are you referring to the "Rondoval Access" trail shown on Trailforks as being an overgrown push? A friend was asking me about it just the other day, but I've never hiked or biked it.

Another vote for NSSM.  The Deep Cove crew (and occasionally Brooksbank) have been helping me with biking and hockey injuries for years.
