I have an equal love of purple ano and machined raw. In a world of carbon I like the raw metal look particularly. I searched high and low for a relatively cost effective raw crankset last year but ended up with blue atlas cranks. 

I am decidedly in the plastic pedal camp however. I find the price point and weight to be deciding factors especially now that there are a lot of competitive options out there.

I think I got one for you. A kids specialised Grom hit (circa 2008) that I min maxed for my son and is now moving to his sister.

What a fascinating looking bike. Love the ingenuity and while there is a whole lot of non-mainstream tech going on there they managed to maintain a great silhouette for the frame. Form AND function! 

Also “that guy from 'big corp' who makes drug paraphernalia that fits in your steerer tube” had me laughing 😂

Take it one step further….. leave the plunger in then you don’t have to create suction to get it in. 

Get your syringes at a medical supply store for a buck or two.

Same here, bookmarking. I tend to get asked by non-biker friends what to look for. This sums up my rambling and soapboxing quiet succinctly! And it will save the dumbfounded looks they give me when I tell my my fork is worth more than the budget they have.

Did this a few years ago. Found a DBAir CS for $75 complete with oil leaking out. Dropped it off at SuspensionWerx and said to toss it if not repairable. Came back to me new. Ran that shock for 4 years before selling it. 

I’m a big fan of cane creek suspension, currently on a DBAir CS and Helm MK2. Their backwards support is huge, and I tend to keep my parts for years - I think that comes from the fact they don’t have a large catalogue of models and build onsite.

I’ve always inherently been a min-maxer before you coined the term but now im even more aware of it with my bikes. It’s like a game!

I like this build and reminds me I need to submit the story behind my sons specialised gromhit.

Ha. Was never big in to tennis but I can totally get this. Something so satisfying about that “whoosh” sound and the immediate smell when opening one up.

That titanium model is absolutely gorgeous but man $$$$

The G2 build isn’t terrible for pricing either.

Love my 38mm rise bar on my XL Megatower  but honestly considering 50mm for next season and get rid of the 15mm of spacers I have.

First ride was definitely a tweaking ride. Second ride was the first time maybe ever that I finished a ride and thought "this bike is perfect, I need to change nothing". Super stoked on the Revel. It could be new bike Googles but the ripmo AF and jibb did not give me this vibe when new. 

Yay! Wierd to not feel like I have tinkering to do though. Some purple headset spacers and seat clamp maybe. Lol.

If nothing performance changing, purple ano is a psychological upgrade.

False. Each purple ano part is proven to add 1.6 watts.

I also vote gravelkings. I have the sk and I don’t feel at a disadvantage on the road. Though I do ride solo.

I was suprised at the pricing for Megatower, it appears to be up there with the E-bikes altho it looks like the E bikes have a lower spec, do you find any noticable difference in terms of power with shorter cranks ?

Only have had a couple rides but with decent climbs. Didn’t really notice any difference in power. I did worry there would be a noticeable difference in the general rotation feel but I didn’t notice anything negative. 

May be a function of swapping them over the winter (didn’t get a back-to-back comparison) or there just isn’t much of a difference other than pedal strikes. 

Ya I can’t believe the pricing on the megatower now. Glad I got this when I did!
